+ What is Boss Mom Mercado?

Boss Mom Mercado is a pop-up marketplace with a competitive twist! Our goal is to give local mother-owned businesses the opportunity to experience a retail leasing experience, while inspiring the community and encouraging the Shop Small movement. A GRAND PRIZE is at stake for the handful of selected vendors participating in the Mercado. The top mother owned retailer that makes the best number of sales combined with bringing the most fans wins a POP UP SHOP location within Dadeland Mall for the month of October.

+ Where do Mompreneurs apply?

We will only accept online applications directly through our website: wearebossmom.com all emails, messages or mail submission will not be considered as an application. Here's the direct link: click here.

+ Are you only accepting applications from Mompreneurs?

Yes, applications need to be from e-commerce businesses that have a mother founder or co-founder, a mother CEO and/or mother ownership (>50%)  We realize that this limits our pool of applicants but we feel this is an important part of our program and long-term initiative for assisting Mothers in business. 

+ What is We Are Boss Mom?

WE ARE BOSS MOM is the platform for working moms to thrive. A non-for-profit organization for mothers who work, entrepreneurs, business owners and corporate employees all coming together for a common purpose—workforce development for mothers.

+ What’s in it for the Mompreneur?

The benefits are that the selected Merchants will have the opportunity to sell their product during our one-day Boss Mom Mercado event in Miami on September 8th, 2018 at Dadeland Mall. Once selected as Merchant, chance to win Grand Prize provide by Dadeland Mall, A SIMON Mall Kiosk Lease for the entire month of October 2018, Kiosk Fixture (Worth $20,000+) - Based on Availability.

+ Can you already have a retail store and participate in the event?

 No, if your business already has a retail lease during the time of the application up until the event date (September 8th) your business does not qualify for the competition.

What if I sell my product or goods in local retail stores on consignment? 

As long as your e-commerce business does not have it’s own brick and mortar, retail lease you will qualify for the competition. Office spaces, participation in pop-up marketplaces, showrooms, and home spaces do not fall under “Brick and Mortar/ or a legally binding Retail Leasing Agreement”

+ What types of products are eligible/not eligible at Boss Mom Mercado?

To this point, we’ve purposely left our criteria broad to encourage the very best to apply. We are looking for uniqueness, story telling and community.

We do not accept vendors with: 

Direct Sales & Multi Level marketing (Examples: Rodan + Fields, Herbalife, Mary Kay, LulaRoe, It Works, LipSense, Scentsy, etc)
Already have a retail location
National Franchises  
No Food, Alcohol or beverage (water or soda) sales.
Services that do not have a product or good associated with them.

+ What will selected merchants be responsible for?

Merchants are responsible for all materials to make their booth a success, such as decor, signage and product displays.

+ Is there a cost to applying?

All Applicants, regardless of selection are required to make a $50 Application Payment. This application fee will to go to We Are Boss Mom Production & Business Bootcamp Costs.

Submitting payment for an application does not constitute acceptance of your company as a Merchant. To complete application process, applicant must agree to pay the $50 application fee via credit card or PayPal. This is a non refundable fee.

 + What dates must Mompreneur Merchants be available for participation?

Must attend the full-day workshop on Friday, August 24th for participation at Boss Mom Mercado.

Must be available for overnight load-in and setup on Friday, September 7th.

Must be available for the Boss Mom Mercado date, Saturday, September 8th.

+ Can a Mom Merchant sell food or a service?

We will accept applications from Merchants with: 

A Product or a good from a wide range of categories

Vintage or Antique collectables
High Quality Craft and Handmade items
Up-cycled or restored salvage
Original art 

Must have a tangible product or good available on hand to sell.

We do not accept vendors with:

+ Can a Mom Merchant participate in the MERCADO without being included in the competition aspect of the event?

Being a boss mom is a hard job as it is already. Trust me, we know. If you’re interested in participating in the Mercado, but don’t see your business fit within the competition portion of the event or are physically unable to (wo)man a pop up during the month of October - don’t stress. You can still be a part of one without being included in the other. Just the opportunity and benefits alone of having your business included in the Mercado are HUGE!
